Chinese Ambassador to PNG Yang Xiaoguang Meets with PNG Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Justin Tkatchenko

On January 7, Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang met with PNG Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Justin Tkatchenko. They exchanged views on China-PNG relations and practical cooperation.

Ambassador Yang said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and PNG. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, under the strategic guidance of leaders of two countries, China has always adhered to the principle of “Four Full Respects” in developing relations with PNG, and bilateral relations have enjoyed sound momentum of development. China stands ready to work with PNG to take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation in various fields and further deepen and substantiate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Minister Tkachenco said PNG attaches great importance to developing relations with China, firmly adheres to the one China principle. Taiwan region is an inalienable part of China and a province of China. He thanked China for its long-standing support for PNG's economic and social development. Marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, he expressed readiness to work with China to further deepen bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, sub-national and people-to-people exchanges and other fields, so as to bring greater growth to bilateral relations.
