On September 3, 2024, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met in Beijing with President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who is in China for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Wang Huning said that in July this year, President Xi Jinping and President Umaro Sissoco Embaló unanimously decided to upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic partnership and reached important common understandings on the next stage of cooperation in various fields and other issues of mutual interest and concern. China is ready to make joint efforts with Guinea-Bissau to push for new achievements in the development of China-Guinea-Bissau and China-Africa relations. The National Committee of the CPPCC of China is ready to play an active role in this regard.

Umaro Sissoco Embaló said China has a true understanding of Africa. It not only strongly supported Africa's struggle for national liberation, but has also always sincerely helped Africa accelerate its development and thus won the trust and friendship of African countries and peoples. Guinea-Bissau cherishes the brotherly friendship with China, firmly abides by the one-China principle, and looks forward to taking this summit as an opportunity to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
