On the afternoon of November 14, 2024 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Lima by special plane to attend the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and pay a state visit to Peru at the invitation of President of the Republic of Peru Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra.

When the special plane arrived at Callao Air Base in Lima, President of the Council of Ministers of Peru Gustavo Lino Adriazén Olaya and other senior officials warmly greeted Xi Jinping. Local students presented flowers to Xi Jinping and warmly welcomed his visit in Chinese. Guards of honor lined up on both sides of a red carpet to salute President Xi Jinping.

Xi Jinping made an arrival statement at the airport, extending sincere greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Peru.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the friendship between China and Peru has a long history and is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Peru is one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. In recent years, China-Peru relations have continued to develop in depth. Political mutual trust between the two sides has been increasingly consolidated, and major cooperation projects are being steadily advanced, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries. Xi Jinping expressed the belief that with the joint efforts of both sides, this visit will lead the China-Peru comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights and promote more new achievements in bilateral practical cooperation across various fields. Xi Jinping said that he also looks forward to attending the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and working with all parties to make new contributions to building an open Asia-Pacific economy, promoting global economic growth, and building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future.

Cai Qi, Wang Yi, and other members of the entourage arrived on the same plane.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, John KC Lee, who arrived earlier, and Chinese Ambassador to Peru Song Yang also greeted President Xi Jinping at the airport.

When Xi Jinping's motorcade drove from the airport to the hotel, representatives of overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded institutions, overseas Chinese students and local people welcomed Xi Jinping on both sides of the road. They waved the national flags of China and Peru, and held high red banners reading "Wish President Xi Jinping a successful visit to Peru!" and "Long live China-Peru friendship!" They played gongs and drums, and performed dragon and lion dances, to warmly welcome Xi Jinping's visit.

On the way from Beijing to Lima, Xi Jinping's special plane made a technical stopover at Gran Canaria Island in Spain, where the Spanish government's plenipotentiary representative to the autonomous community of the Canary Islands and senior local officials went to the airport to greet and see him off.
