Fu Hao

Mr. Fu Hao, born in Liquan County of Shaanxi Province on 13thApril 1916, served as vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China from May 1972 to September 1974 and December 1981 to April 1982.

He has been long engaged in leading political and publicity work in the army before the founding of the People's Republic.From February to July 1946, he was CPC representative (with the rank of Colonel) of the 15thMediation Group in Dezhou of Peking Office of Military Mediation and Execution, which was jointly undertaken by the KMT, the United States and the Communist Party of China.He joined in the foreign service in 1950 and assumed the following posts: counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia (July 1950 to August 1952); assistant director of the Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry (1952 to September 1954) and then deputy director-general of the Asian Department (September 1954 to August 1955); counselor of the Chinese Embassy in India (August 1955 to January 1962); deputy director-general of the Personnel Department of the Foreign Ministry (January 1962 to June 1964); deputy chief of the Political Headquarters and concurrently director-general of the Personnel Department (January 1962 to June 1964); director-general of the General Office (May 1970 to September 1972); ambassador to Viet Nam (September 1974 to April 1977) and to Japan (August 1977 to February 1982); adviser to the Foreign Ministry (February 1982 to May 1983).

He was representative, member of the Standing Committee, vice-chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 6thand 7thNational People's Congress.He attended the 2ndround of talks of China-India Officials in New Deli as the special envoy and head of the Chinese Delegation in 1982.He headed the delegations of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress for visits in more than 20 countries including UK, France, Italy, US, Russia and Japan respectively in 1986 and 1991.He also attended the IPU conferences in London, Togo, Nicosia and Santiago in the capacity of head of the Chinese Delegation.He went for the Conference of World Parliamentarians Supporting the United Nations in Beijing as head of the Chinese Delegation.He is now China's chief representative to the 21stCentury Committee for China-Japan Friendship.

He is the author of the poem collection---"Everything under the Sun".
