Liu Xiao

Mr. Liu Xiao was born in Chenxi County of Hunan Province in May 1908 and passed away in June 1988.He was Executive vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic ofChinafrom December 1962 to September 1966.

Mr. Liu Xiao participated in the Long March and was deeply involved in leading the underground Party work inShanghaiafter 1937.After the founding of the People's Republic in 1949, he assumed the posts of member of the Standing Committee of East-China Bureau of CPC Central Committee and concurrently director of the Organization Department, second secretary of CPC Shanghai Committee and concurrently director of the Organization Department.He was Chinese ambassador to theSoviet Unionfrom February 1955 to October 1962.He attended the 20thNational Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in the capacity of member of the Chinese Communist Party Delegation headed by Mr. Zhu De in February 1952; accompanied Premier Zhou Enlai to visit the Soviet Union, Poland and Hungary in January 1957; joined in the top-level talks with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union as a member of the Chinese Communist Party Delegation headed by Mr. Deng Xiaoping in September 1960; attended the Moscow Meeting of Representatives of the Communist and Workers' Parties from 81 countries as a member of the Chinese Communist Party Delegation headed by Mr. Liu Shaoqi and Mr. Deng Xiaoping.He was Chinese ambassador toAlbaniafrom April 1967 to March 1968, and advisor of the Foreign Ministry in 1979.

Mr. Liu Xiao was alternate member of the 7thCPC Central Committee, and member of the 8thCPC Central Committee.
