On August 3, 2016, when jointly meeting the press with Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith of Laos after holding talks, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed on the preparation progress of the G20 Hangzhou Summit that all preparation works are under smooth progress and we are fully confident of the success of the summit. Hangzhou Summit is expected to be the most fruitful one compared with previous summits.

Wang Yi said that since taking over the G20 presidency at the end of last year, with its own relentless efforts as well as strong support and participation of all member states, guest countries as well as international organizations, the Chinese side has separately held ministerial meetings on trade, energy, employment and agriculture, and held extensive dialogues respectively with representatives from various circles such as industry and commerce, youth, women, labour, think-tanks, non-governmental and social organizations and others, laying important groundwork for the Hangzhou Summit. Centering on the theme of "Toward an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy", China has also conducted intensive consultations through the two channels of Sherpa and finance. We held 3 Sherpa Meetings, 3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meetings and Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meetings as well as dozens of working group meetings of various kinds. This series of intense and productive works have synergized consensus to the greatest extent and paved the way for the convening of the Hangzhou Summit.

According to statistics, Hangzhou Summit is likely to achieve nearly 30 major results, which will make it the most fruitful one compared with previous summits. In terms of the general direction, we will forge new impetus to promote the robust, sustainable and balanced growth of the world economy through advocating innovation. We will come up with new proposals to resolve various difficulties faced by current economic and financial sectors through advancing structural reform. We will also explore a new prospect in leading the global implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through enhancing development cooperation.

Wang Yi noted that the Hangzhou Summit is exactly one month away from today. Preparation of the Hangzhou Summit has entered into a countdown. China is ready now. It is believed that the summit will certainly live up to people's great trust, and bring surprises to the people as well as hopes to the world.
