Wang Yi: There Are Only Trust, Friendship and Cooperation between China and Bangladesh

On Sept. 24, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh at the UN headquarters, New York.

Wang Yi said that China and Bangladesh are traditionally friendly neighbours. There is no problem between the two countries, only trust, friendship and cooperation. The Chinese government under the new leadership attaches great importance to developing relations with Bangladesh and appreciates Bangladesh's firm support on issues concerning China's core interests such as Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang. China is ready to work with Bangladesh to keep close high-level exchanges, to deepen practical cooperation, to accelerate the construction of China-India-Myanmar-Bangladesh corridor and other major projects, so as to push for unceasing new progress of bilateral relations.

Hasina expressed that developing friendly relations with China is consensus between the ruling and opposition parties of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is grateful for China's long-time great support for Bangladesh's economic and social development. Bangladesh will adhere to the friendship with China, pursue the one-China policy, accelerate the corridor construction and deepen practical cooperation.
