Fourth King of Bhutan Meets with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin

On Aug. 22, 2013, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin, when attending the 21st Round of China-Bhutan Boundary Talks in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, called on the Fourth King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

Liu Zhenmin spoke highly for the long-time important contributions the King made to the development of China-Bhutan relations. He expressed that China attaches importance to developing good-neighbourly and friendly relations with Bhutan. China is willing, based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, to strengthen practical cooperation with Bhutan in all fields, to resolve the border issues at an early date, and to open up a new chapter for bilateral relations.

King Jigme Singye Wangchuck spoke highly that China always adheres to the policy of friendship towards Bhutan and expressed his satisfaction for the development of Bhutan-China relations as well as cooperation in all fields for years. The Bhutanese side appreciates that the Chinese delegation came for the boundary talks soon after the new government of Bhutan was formed. Both sides should work together to continue to promote the resolution of the border issues and to unceasingly push forward bilateral relations.
