On September 15, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif of Iran jointly met the press after their talks in Beijing. When answering a question about the new situation facing China-Iran economic and trade cooperation after reaching the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue, Wang Yi said that after reaching the comprehensive agreement, the external environment of Iran has improved significantly and enterprises from various countries start to pay attention to Iran. As Iran's good friend, China is glad for this and more confident in the prospect of deepening China-Iran mutually beneficial cooperation. This confidence is derived from the political mutual trust and high economic complementarity between China and Iran, and more from China's "Belt and Road" initiatives which build a new and broad platform for bilateral cooperation in the new period.

Wang Yi emphasized that in difficult times, China has been the most reliable cooperative partner of Iran. In the new period of Iran's development and construction, China will become the most ideal cooperative partner of Iran.

When answering the same question, Mohammad Javad Zarif said that China was Iran's friend in its difficult times. Iran and China have high complementarity in economy, China enjoys advantage in technology, and Iran is willing to carry out more strategic cooperation with China. Chinese companies kept extensive cooperation with Iran in its difficult times and have good business foundation in Iran, so they can take the opportunity of Iran's new environment and market opening to expand Iran-China economic and trade cooperation in more extensive fields.
