China and Jordan

On April 7, 1977, China and Jordan established diplomatic relations. Since then, relations between the two countries in politics, economy, military, culture and other fields have been developing steadily, with increasing friendly exchanges. In September 2015, the two sides established China-Jordan strategic partnership.

The two countries have frequent high-level exchanges. Important visits from the Chinese side: State Councilor Wang Yong (May 2016), Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Yandong (April 2017), Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi (June 2017), Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Qiangba Puncog (July 2017), Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Chen Xiaoguang (September 2018), and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate Ying Yong (October 2023).

Important visits from the Jordanian side: King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein (September 2015), Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi (November 2023), President of the Judicial Council Mohammad Ghazou and Attorney General Youssef Dhiabat (May 2024), Speaker of the Senate of the National Assembly Faisal Al-Fayez (August 2024).

Bilateral economic and trade cooperation has developed steadily. In 2024, the bilateral trade volume reached USD 5,370 million, of which China's exports amounted to USD 4,928 million and imports totaled USD 442 million.

The two countries have maintained close people-to-people and cultural exchanges. In 2021, the China Cultural Center in Amman opened. China has set up two Confucius Institutes in Jordan.
