From May 23 to 26, 2016, State Councilor Wang Yong visited Jordan, during which he met with King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein, as well as Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Abdullah Ensour of Jordan in Amman, the capital of Jordan.

Wang Yong expressed that China treasures China-Jordan traditional friendship. Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. China stands ready to, together with Jordan, well implement the important consensus reached by both heads of state, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen the alignment between the "Belt and Road" initiative and "Jordan 2025" and encourage competent Chinese enterprises to participate in Jordan's construction of infrastructures such as transportation and energy, and production capacity cooperation projects. Both sides should also promote cooperation in people-to-people and cultural exchanges, security and other areas so as to continuously expand the connotation of bilateral strategic partnership.

The Jordanian side extended gratitude to China's firm support and selfless assistance to Jordan for a long time, and spoke highly of China's constructive role in addressing major international and regional hotspot issues by sticking to political and diplomatic channels. The Jordanian side stressed that both sides should continue to support each other on issues related to respective core interests and major concerns. Willing to be an emitter and pivot in the Middle East region of the "Belt and Road" construction proposed by China and international cooperation in production capacity, Jordan will intensify mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve common development with China.

During the visit to Jordan, Wang Yong also attended the signing ceremony of economic cooperation agreements between China and Jordan and inspected Arab Potash Company and Samra Power Generating Station Phase II Add-on project contracted by a Chinese enterprise.
