On November 9, 1971, China and Lebanon established diplomatic relations. China and Lebanon enjoy traditional friendship and steady development of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Important visits from the Chinese side: Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Zhengwei (May 2015), Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Fan Changlong (November 2016), Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi (June 2017), and Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Chen Xiaoguang (September 2018).
Important visits from the Lebanese side: Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury (July 2018), Minister of Tourism Avedis Guidannian (August 2019), and Minister of Telecommunications Johnny Corm (June 2024).
Bilateral economic and trade cooperation has developed steadily. In 2024, the bilateral trade volume between China and Lebanon reached USD 2,204 million, of which China's exports amounted to USD 2,111 million and imports totaled USD 93 million.
In 1992, China and Lebanon signed a cultural exchange agreement. In recent years, the Chinese side has held "Happy Chinese New Year", "Chinese Culture on Campus" and other activities in Lebanon, and the two sides have jointly held a series of events such as bilateral cultural days, artistic performances and photo exhibitions, which have enhanced the friendship and understanding between the two sides.
