Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun Meets with Outgoing Lebanese Ambassador to China Sleiman Rassi

On June 3, 2010, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met in the Foreign Ministry with outgoing Lebanese Ambassador to China Sleiman Rassi. Zhai said that recent years have witnessed sustained development of bilateral ties, ever closer political exchanges, more frequent personnel contacts, increasing trade volume and effective cooperation in culture, education and other areas between the two countries. China firmly supports Lebanon's efforts in safeguarding state sovereignty and territorial integrity, realizing national reconciliation and conducting economic reconstruction, and actively participates in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. China is ready to work with Lebanon to push forward bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Rassi said that during his seven-year tenure in China, he keenly felt the enormous achievements in China's economic and social development. He thanked China for offering political, economic and moral support and help to his country over the years and for supporting Arab people to restore their legitimate national rights and safeguard regional peace and stability. He believed that China-Lebanon, China-Arab relations will be strengthened continuously.
