On November 22, 2011, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao sent a congratulatory message to Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati on the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Lebanon.

Premier Wen said in his message that Prime Minister Mikati has been actively committed to maintaining political and social stability, engaging in economic reconstruction, promoting national reconciliation and developing good-neighborly relations since his assumption of office, which the Chinese side appreciates. Recent years have witnessed furthering political mutual trust, steadily growing economic and trade cooperation, closer cultural exchanges and enhanced coordination in international and regional affairs between the two countries. The Chinese government attaches importance to developing relations with Lebanon, said Wen, pledging to join hands with his Lebanese counterpart to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
