On June 23, 2017 local time, Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beirut.

Saad Hariri said that attaching importance to developing Lebanon-China relations, Lebanon is willing to actively participate in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", becoming a base for China to enter Arab markets and radiate to Mediterranean countries. Thanking China for its support and assistance on such issues as Lebanon's acceptation of Syrian refugees and peacekeeping in Southern Lebanon, the country stands ready to enhance financing cooperation in highway, railway and other infrastructure projects with China. It is hoped that both sides could expand cooperation in tourism and further promote bilateral personnel exchanges.

Wang Yi said since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Lebanon, both sides have supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests. As Lebanon is a country along the "Belt and Road", valuing its location advantage, China is willing to, together with Lebanon, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure and international production capacity to achieve advantage complementarity and common development. China has become the biggest trade partner of Lebanon, with broad prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation and development between both sides. The Chinese side stands ready to continuously speak from a sense of justice to safeguard Lebanon's legitimate interests in international affairs and actively participate in the UN peacekeeping operation in Lebanon.
