From the early morning of May 23, Israel started the withdrawal of its troops from the "security zone" in southern Lebanon to the Israeli side of the international border between Israel and Lebanon.


China welcomes the move by Israel to implement Resolution 425 of the UN Security Council and hopes that it will facilitate comprehensive progress in the Middle East peace talks. It is also our hope that the parties concerned will take effective measures to ensure stability in southern Lebanon in order to create conditions for the early realization of comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
