On August 9, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with newly-appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to China Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Harbi.

Deng Li welcomed Al-Harbi to China to take up the new post, noting that China and Saudi Arabia are good friends, good partners and good brothers. In recent years, bilateral relations have developed in an all-round, rapid and in-depth way and cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. China is ready to work with the Saudi Arabian side to well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on developing bilateral relations, continue to firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, continuously deepen practical cooperation in various fields and promote new development of the China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership. Al-Harbi spoke highly of China's development achievements and results of bilateral cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, energy and investment, stressing that Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and is willing to join hands with China to elevate Saudi Arabia-China comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.

Al-Harbi stressed that Saudi Arabia's policy of respecting the sovereignty of all countries and opposing interference in their internal affairs is consistent and clear. The Saudi Arabian side firmly supports the one-China principle.
