Tajik President Emomali Rahmon Meets with Wang Yi

On September 16, 2021 local time, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Dushanbe.

Rahmon asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and thanked the Chinese side for the enormous help to Tajikistan's development of national economy, maintaining of national security and COVID-19 response, expressing the willingness of Tajikistan to deepen the pragmatic cooperation with China in the fight against COVID-19 and other fields and push the relations between the two countries to deepen further. The Tajik side appreciated China's strong support for Tajikistan's rotating chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China on the Afghan issue and others, to jointly safeguard regional peace and security.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to Rahmon, saying that China and Tajikistan have set an example of neighbors being bonded by the same future and working together for win-win outcomes for the international community by taking the lead in building a community of development and a security community. No matter how the international situation changes, China and Tajikistan will always stand together as iron-clad partners. China will continue to provide Tajikistan with vaccine and material support for its pandemic response and make every effort to support Tajikistan in triumphing over the virus completely. The Chinese side believes that being chaired by President Rahmon, the forthcoming SCO summit is bound to be successful, in which China stands ready to play a constructive role. China is willing to step up communication and cooperation with Tajikistan on the Afghan issue to defend common interests and regional stability.
