External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping Holds Video Meeting with Chairman of Tajikistan's State Committee for National Security Saymumin Yatimov

On December 27, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping held a video meeting with Chairman of Tajikistan's State Committee for National Security Saymumin Yatimov. The two sides mainly exchanged views on China-Tajikistan relations, counter-terrorism and security cooperation, and the building of the inter-departmental and inter-regional security cooperation mechanism.

Cheng Guoping said that China and Tajikistan are friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners, as well as "ironclad friends" with high mutual trust and mutual support. This year, President Xi Jinping and President Emomali Rahmon had two phone conversations and maintained close communication, strategically guiding the development of bilateral relations. Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Tajikistan. China is ready to work with Tajikistan to deepen the inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism and promote the building of a community of security for the two countries so as to provide a strong guarantee for the development of China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic partnership.

Yatimov said, at present, momentous changes take place in the international and regional situation and uncertainties are on the rise, posing a threat to the national security of both countries. Tajikistan is ready to make good use of the platform of the inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism with China to further strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism and security, jointly combat terrorism and safeguard regional security and stability.
