Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva of Cape Verde

On the afternoon of October 10, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang met in Macao with Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva of Cape Verde, who was in China to attend the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Li Keqiang expressed that the relationship between China and Cape Verde has achieved substantial development since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations 40 years ago. China is willing to, together with Cape Verde, enhance political mutual trust, elevate the level of bilateral relations and cooperation and push for new outcomes from friendly cooperation. The two sides should actively advance cooperation in such areas as marine economy, information communication, tourism, education and safe city and jointly carry out mutually beneficial cooperation with third parties. We are ready to share and exchange experience in development and poverty reduction with Cape Verde, and encourage competent Chinese enterprises to invest in the country for mutual benefit and win-win results.

Ulisses Correia e Silva said that Cape Verde and China have witnessed constantly consolidating political relations and delightful results from cooperation in economy, trade and investment. The government of Cape Verde firmly adheres to the One-China policy and stands ready to learn from China's development experience, elevate bilateral cooperation partnership, boost cooperation in various fields and carry out third-party cooperation in marine economy as well as other areas. Attaching high importance to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between Portuguese-speaking Countries and China, Cape Verde is willing to well implement reached consensus.
