On June 4, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with Lesotho's Foreign Minister Mohlabi Tsekoa, who is here for an official visit. The two sides reviewed the sound development of bilateral ties since the resumption of their diplomatic relations in 1994 and exchanged views and reached broad consensus on furthering bilateral cooperation on politics, trade, culture, education and international affairs.

Yang thanked for Lesotho's long-term adherence to the one-China policy and its precious support to China on issues concerning China's major interests. Yang also appreciated Lesotho's generous donation to China's quake-hit areas last May. He said China deems Lesotho a good friend and partner and is ready to work with the country to push forward bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Tsekoa said that the Chinese government has long been offering enormous selfless assistance to Lesotho in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, medical care and human resources development, which greatly benefited Lesotho. Lesotho is ready to further enhance cooperation with China and share the achievements of China's development. He also reaffirmed his country's adherence to the one-China policy.

Following the talks, the two Foreign Ministers signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation between the two governments.
