Xi Jinping Sends Messages to the Three Presidents of Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia to Express His Condolences over Ebola Epidemic

On August 10, 2014, President Xi Jinping sent messages to President Alpha Conde of Guinea, President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, and President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia respectively, expressing his condolences over the recent Ebola epidemic in this three countries, which has caused significant casualties and economic losses, and appreciating the all-out efforts that the three governments have devoted to combating the epidemic.

Xi Jinping said that China and Africa are good brothers, good friends and good partners that share weal and woe and stand together through thick and thin. The Chinese government and people will never forget that whenever Chinese people encounter difficulties, the African people will extend a timely hand and give support and help. In this difficult time, the Chinese government and people will stand together with the three governments and peoples, and are willing to offer them a batch of infectious diseases prevention and control supplies as emergency aid to support them fighting against the epidemic.

Xi Jinping stressed that in face of the Ebola outbreak, the Chinese side appeals to the international community to take active action, to provide emergency aid to the affected countries, and to join hands supporting people of the affected areas to tide over the difficulties and defeat the epidemic, so as to restore the regular production and living order at an early date.
