On August 9 local time, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the capital Monrovia.

Wang Yi congratulated that Liberia takes the lead to prevail over the Ebola epidemic under the leadership of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, re-gathers national strength, and creates new prospects for future development. Wang Yi expressed that the Chinese side stands ready to help Liberia speed up reconstruction and propel economic and social development in compliance with the needs of Liberia in the "post-Ebola era". The Chinese side is willing to send more medical staff to Liberia, and make full use of medical facilities at the Ebola treatment center rovided by China to serve the construction of public health system in Liberia. The Chinese side bears willingness to encourage and support the Chinese enterprises to take part in multiple ways in the construction and operation of Liberian ports, airports, roads, hydroelectricity and other infrastructure, train more governmental personnel and outstanding youth for Liberia and help Liberia overcome the two major development bottlenecks: backward infrastructure and insufficient talents. The Chinese side stands ready to inspire its enterprises to actively participate in Liberia's resource exploitation, transfer the most-needed high-quality production capacity and technology to Liberia, and help Liberia build systems of processing and manufacturing industries, so as to improve Liberia's ability to develop on its own.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf expressed that Liberia thanks the government and people of China for taking the lead to offer substantial and unselfish assistance in the critical moment when the Ebola epidemic raged in Liberia, which motivated the international community to support Liberia's fight against the epidemic and made significant contributions to Liberia's victory and enhancement of capability in the prevention and control of epidemic diseases. The Chinese side verifies through practical actions that China is the most reliable friend of Liberia and Africa at large. The important idea on Liberia-China cooperation in key fields in the post-Ebola era put forward by the Chinese side coincides with Liberia's development plan for state revitalization, inspires deeply the government and people of Liberia and strengthens their confidence in nation-reconstruction.
