On December 26, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Urbino Botelho of Sao Tome and Principe in Beijing. After the talks, the two Foreign Ministers signed the Joint Communiqué between the People's Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe on Resumption of Diplomatic Relations.
