From November 10 to 12, 2024, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry and Secretary-General of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Du Xiaohui visited Tanzania, during which he met and held talks with the Minister of Transport and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, respectively. Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian was present.
Du Xiaohui said that China is ready to work with Tanzania to deliver on the common understandings of the two heads of state and the outcomes of the summit, continue the traditional friendship, deepen political mutual trust, and take the opportunity of accelerating the revitalization of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway to deepen practical cooperation in various fields.
Tanzania spoke highly of bilateral relations, reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle, and is willing to continue to firmly support each other with China, speed up the revitalization of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and take the Tanzania-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level.
During the visit, Du Xiaohui paid tribute to the Chinese Experts Cemetery, visited the Dar es Salaam Station of Tanzania-Zambia Railway, and the Dar es Salaam port and pre-port station, held discussions with scholars of Research on Poverty Alleviation (REPOA), and accepted an interview with the Guardian of Tanzania.
