On July 9, 2019 local time, President Andrzej Duda of Poland met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Warsaw.

Andrzej Duda asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. Andrzej Duda said, President Xi Jinping paid a successful visit to Poland in 2016, during which Poland-China relations were elevated to a new height of the comprehensive strategic partnership. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Poland-China diplomatic relationship. The Polish side values the traditional friendship between the two countries. As there is huge potential for cooperation between the two countries, the Polish side is willing to take an active part in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation between Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) and China. Poland hopes more Polish products will enter the Chinese market, while welcoming more investment from Chinese companies in Poland. The Polish side will treat enterprises of all countries equally in line with the international law and will not take discriminative measures. The Polish side also stands ready to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in China-European Union (EU) relations and international affairs.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping’s sincere greetings to Andrzej Duda. Wang Yi said, the world today is undergoing major changes unseen in a century. Poland is an important emerging economy and a major country in the EU as well as among the CEEC. The Chinese side attaches great importance to its comprehensive strategic partnership with Poland, and is willing to work with the Polish side to seize opportunities, activate potential, make good use of three major platforms including the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative, China-CEEC cooperation and China-EU cooperation, and open up new space for and a new vista of cooperation, in a bid to elevate bilateral practical cooperation to a new level. The two sides should also strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, jointly safeguard multilateralism and the rules-based multilateral trading system, and promote world and regional peace, stability and prosperity.

During the visit, Wang Yi also met with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki of Poland, and held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz of Poland and jointly attended the opening ceremony of the second meeting of China-Poland Intergovernmental Committee.
