On September 28 local time, President Xi Jinping met in New York with Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen of Denmark.

Xi Jinping stressed that in recent years, China-Denmark exchanges in various fields have scored fruitful results. Bilateral trade has exceeded 10 billion USD, with China having become Denmark's top trade partner in Asia and second-largest overseas destination for investment. Bilateral cooperation in areas of science and education, agriculture, medicine, energy saving and environmental protection has also enjoyed smooth progress. Looking ahead, the two sides should also improve political mutual trust, continue to respect each other's core interests and major concerns, expand coordination within the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations, and further enhance cooperation on major global issues like climate change and Arctic scientific exploration. China will earnestly look at the possibility of carrying out third-party cooperation with Denmark. The two sides should enrich the connotation of their mutually beneficial cooperation and expand technological and personnel exchanges in the field of sustainable development. China welcomes Denmark to play an active role in the "Belt and Road" construction to promote regional connectivity and economic growth. The two countries should also consolidate foundation for bilateral friendship between the two peoples by intensifying youth exchanges, sending more overseas students to the other country and providing more convenience for boosting personnel exchanges. China has always supported the European integration process and wants to see a prosperous Europe, united European Union (EU) and strong euro. China is willing to, together with Denmark, continuously push forward new results in China-EU relations and cooperation between China and the Northern European countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference in Paris later this year is expected to conclude negotiations on the new climate change agreement. The "Enhanced Actions on Climate Change: China's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions" document, which China submitted to the UN in June, represents China's utmost efforts for achieving the goals outlined in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and marks a practical contribution to ensure the success of the Paris conference. China is willing to, together with Denmark, in line with the principles of common but differentiated responsibilities, fairness and respective capabilities, push for an all-round, balanced and forceful new agreement at the Paris conference.

Lars Rasmussen expressed that as this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and China, Denmark is glad to see the rapid development of its relations with China. The Danish government is devoted to continuously deepening the friendly cooperative relationship with China, and ready to further boost high-level exchanges, enhance political cooperation, facilitate bilateral cooperation in science, technology, tourism and other sectors, and promote personnel exchanges between the two sides. Denmark appreciates China's important role and positive contribution in such areas as climate change and sustainable development, and is ready to further strengthen communication and cooperation with China in multi-lateral sectors.
