Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen of Denmark Meets with Yang Jiechi

On April 17, 2016 local time, Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen of Denmark met with State Councilor Yang Jiechi at the prime minister's office in Copenhagen.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen asked Yang Jiechi to convey his greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. Lars Løkke Rasmussen said that having maintained sound relations, Denmark and China enjoy strong development momentum. His recent meeting with President Xi Jinping during the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington D.C. was of great and positive significance. Denmark expects to maintain close high-level exchanges with China, accelerate the formulation of the "Action Guideline for China-Denmark Cooperation" and comprehensively expand bilateral practical cooperation in various fields so as to bring Denmark-China relations to a new high. Denmark supports European Union (EU) in developing a closer relationship of cooperation with China, and is willing to play a positive role in promoting the development of the EU-China relations and sub-regional cooperation between northern Europe and China.

Yang Jiechi conveyed the greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Lars Løkke Rasmussen. Yang Jiechi said that China-Denmark comprehensive strategic partnership is maintaining a good momentum of development at present. President Xi Jinping and Mr. Prime Minister have reached important consensus on the development of bilateral relations at the meeting in Washington D.C. At present, the development of China-Denmark relations is facing good opportunities and showing broad prospects. China and Denmark should work together to further advance the development of communication and cooperation in such fields as politics, economy and trade and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Both sides should accelerate the docking of development strategies, comprehensively expand mutually beneficial cooperation in such areas as connectivity, green development, transition to low-carbon economies, medical and health care and agriculture and food, strengthen people-to-people and cultural as well as local exchanges, and enrich connotations of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Denmark. Both sides should work together to promote China-EU relations and sub-regional cooperation between China and northern Europe. China hopes that Denmark will provide more positive energy for the sound and stable development of China-EU relations and play a positive and leading role in enhancing sub-regional cooperation between China and northern Europe. It is hoped that both sides will continue to maintain communication in multilateral fields and enhance coordination and cooperation on major international affairs.
