On June 21, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelsen of Denmark who was in China for an official visit.

Wang Yi expressed that as this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Denmark comprehensive strategic partnership, bilateral relations have stood at a new starting point of inheriting the past and ushering the future. The Chinese side is willing to, together with Denmark, comply with the consensus of the leaders of both countries, continue to uphold the principle of mutual respect, equal treatment and win-win cooperation, well implement the China-Denmark Joint Work Program released by both governments, deepen cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, sustainable development, the Arctic and anti-corruption, and strengthen cooperation in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, so as to promote China-Denmark relations for new development in the new historic period. Under the current situation, both sides should also enhance communication and coordination, jointly safeguard the multilateralism process and the global free trade system, and advance the building of an open world economy. It is hoped that Denmark will continue to play an active role in the European Union (EU) to push China-EU relations for sound and stable development. The Chinese side is also willing to discuss advancing China-Nordic cooperation with Nordic countries including Denmark.

Anders Samuelsen expressed that he was very glad to visit China on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Denmark-China comprehensive strategic partnership. Developing positive relations with China is one of the top priorities of Denmark's diplomacy. The country sticks to the one-China policy, and believes that Xi Zang is an inalienable part of China's territory. Denmark stands ready to, together with China, well implement the Joint Work Program to enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields. The Danish side also stands ready to discuss strengthening cooperation with China in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, and the Danish enterprises are interested in taking an active part in it. The country believes that economic globalization brings opportunity. The Danish side supports open market and free trade, and opposes trade protectionism.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues including world trade, climate change, the Korean Peninsula issue, and the Syrian issue.
