On July 13, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao was invited to attend Montenegro's National Day reception held by Montenegro's Ambassador to China Ljiljana Toskovic.

Song made positive comments on China-Montenegro relations, stressing that China attaches great importance to bilateral relations and is willing to promote pragmatic cooperation in economy, trade, tourism and other fields. Since Premier Wen Jiabao's meeting with leaders of 16 central and eastern European countries in Warsaw, the relations between China and Central and Eastern European countries have entered a new stage of development. He hoped that Montenegro will actively promote China - Central and Eastern Europe cooperation.

Toskovic said Montenegro is satisfied with the development momentum of bilateral relations and sound political relations have laid a solid foundation for both sides to develop cooperation in all areas. Montenegro highly praises the 12 initiatives raised by Premier Wen on deepening relations between China and Central and Eastern European countries and is willing to actively participate in relevant cooperation.
