Xi Jinping Meets with President Filip Vujanović of Montenegro

On August 17, 2014, President Xi Jinping met with President Filip Vujanović of Montenegro in Nanjing, expressing warm welcome to him for his special trip to attend the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

Vujanović expressed that organization work of the Nanjing YOG is of world class, and he believed that this grand meeting is bound to be successful.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Montenegro is a country of long history and splendid culture. Although it is only eight years since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Montenegro, development momentum of the bilateral relations is satisfactory. The Chinese side has always regarded Montenegro as a good friend and partner that is worthy of trust in the Central and Eastern European region. China is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with the Montenegrin side, strengthen communication and dialogues at all levels, consolidate political mutual trust, focus on the overall situation and tap potential, advance cooperation in transportation infrastructure, energy, tourism and other fields and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to jointly facilitate cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries and constantly push forward the China-Montenegro relations to new highs.

Vujanović expressed that, the Montenegrin people speak highly of China for adhering to the principle of mutual respect and equal treatment internationally, believe that China will surely make greater contributions to world peace and prosperity and wish the Chinese Dream will be realized at an early date. China is an important cooperative partner of Montenegro. The Montenegrin side hopes to enhance bilateral high-level exchanges as well as exchanges between all departments, and to advance cooperation in various fields such as trade and economy, medical and health service, culture and education, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to participate in such infrastructure construction projects as electricity and transportation in Montenegro. The Montenegrin side stands ready to actively promote the development of the relations between the Central and Eastern European countries and China.
