On January 20, 2016, President Filip Vujanović of Montenegro met with Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing who was in Montenegro for the political consultation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Filip Vujanović happily recalled his three visits to China, spoke highly of the development of Montenegro-China relations and expressed his willingness to continuously strengthen and advance bilateral practical cooperation on the new starting point of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Liu Haixing said that the Chinese government attaches importance to developing its relations with Montenegro and both sides should actively promote the docking between the "Belt and Road" initiative and the development strategy of Montenegro, and fully utilize the important platform of China-CEEC cooperation to continuously and deeply tap cooperation potential and thus push China-Montenegro relations to a higher level.
