Q:What is your comment on the report published by Canada's Global Post alleging that China once stole nuclear secrets from Canada?
A: Recently, Canada's Global Post published anti-China articles one after another, slandering that China once sent spies to steal nuclear technology from Canada. It is totally groundless and out of ulterior motive. It is aimed at undermining the development of bilateral relations between China and relevant country. The Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (short for MNSR) mentioned in the articles was developed by China independently. There is no such thing as stealing technology from other country, nor is it necessary for China to do so. The MNSR independently developed by China is a project of peaceful use of nuclear energy that has been acknowledged by the IAEA. The exports of the MNSR have the nuclear safeguards of IAEA and some have even been funded by the IAEA. It needs to point out here that recently the Sino-Canadian relations have kept a momentum of sound development and the cooperation between China and Canada has been further strengthened in economic and trade fields and especially in the field of nuclear energy. But some anti-China forces in Canada have gone out of their way to create troubles and erect obstacles in the development of the Sino-Canadian relations. Their attempt would not succeed.
