In 2021, the friendly and cooperative relations between the People’s Republic of China and Grenada maintained a sound momentum of development.
Political mutual trust between the two countries was further enhanced. In June, Chairman of Grenada’s ruling party the New National Party Anthony Boatswain and the acting political leader of the opposition party the National Democratic Congress Adrian Thomas sent congratulatory letters respectively to General Secretary Xi Jinping on the centenary of the CPC. In November, Prime Minister Keith Mitchell attended the third China-CELAC Political Parties’ Forum and delivered a speech via video link. In July, Foreign Minister Oliver Joseph sent a message of sympathy to State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the floods in Henan Province. In December, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosted the third Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, and Foreign Minister Oliver Joseph attended the event via video link. China provided multiple batches of anti-COVID supplies to Grenada. The two countries maintained sound communication and collaboration on major regional and international issues.
Bilateral practical cooperation and cultural exchanges advanced steadily. China continued to provide government scholarships and human resources training opportunities to Grenada.
In January, China’s new ambassador to Grenada Wei Hongtian presented his credentials to Governor-General of Grenada Cécile La Grenade.
