Nineteen cooperation documents were signed between China and Venezuela on January 29th to promote bilateral reciprocal cooperation in related spheres, which constitute important achievements in Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong's visit to Venezuela.
Among the signed documents are: memorandum of understanding on further enhancing the work of China-Venezuela high-level committee; letter of intent on investment and cooperation on the agricultural economic special zone development in the Cumana island; agreement on providing convenience in visa processing for government staff to implement plan of action; memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation in peaceful utilization of outer space; agreement on cooperation in exploiting oil fields and natural gas; memorandum of understanding on maritime shipment agency business; memorandum of understanding on social housing program; letter of intent on investment in developing national telecommunications network; and memorandum of understanding on economy.
The documents were signed after Vice President Zeng held talks with President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. The two leaders attended the signing ceremony. Zeng arrived in Venezuela on the 28th for a formal visit at the invitation of Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel. Venezuela is the third leg of Zeng's five-nation tour of Latin America and the Caribbean that will also take him to Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. Zeng is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the first ministerial-level meeting of the China-Caribbean Economy and Trade Cooperation Forum 2005 on Feb. 2 in Kingston, capital of Jamaica.
