Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha of Thailand

On September 4, 2016, President Xi Jinping met in Hangzhou with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha of Thailand, who was attending the G20 Hangzhou Summit as head of a guest country.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Thailand are like one family. Attaching great importance to developing China-Thailand friendly relations, China is willing to work with Thailand to constantly push forward bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation to new highs. As important developing countries in Asia, China and Thailand are facing important tasks of developing economy, improving people’s livelihood and safeguarding stability. The two countries should enhance strategic communication and the docking of development strategies, vigorously facilitate bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields, expand personnel exchanges and strengthen coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks. As the leader of the rotating G77 presidency, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha’s attendance at the G20 Hangzhou Summit demonstrates the support of all developing countries to China in hosting the G20 Summit. China stands ready to work with Thailand to promote the success of the G20 Hangzhou Summit.

Prayuth Chan-ocha thanked China for inviting Thailand to attend the G20 Hangzhou Summit. He noted that all developing countries speak highly of China’s efforts in strengthening cooperation between the G20 and the G77. As close as members of one family with China, the Thai side is devoted to deepening bilateral traditional friendship between the two peoples as well as expanding cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, tourism, and infrastructure.
