Xi Jinping Meets with President Francois Hollande of France

On September 5, 2016, President Xi Jinping met in Hangzhou with President Francois Hollande of France, who was in China to attend the G20 Hangzhou Summit.

Xi Jinping pointed out the G20 Hangzhou Summit has achieved fruitful results, and that the Chinese side speaks highly of France's support in this regard. In recent years, the quality and level of bilateral relations have been elevated comprehensively, bringing more tangible benefits to the two peoples. No matter how the international situation changes, China has always seen France as an important strategic cooperative partner and always dealt with bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective. The Chinese side stands ready to, together with France, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs, so as to push for better and faster development of bilateral relations.

Xi Jinping noted that the EU is one important power in the world. As two major powers in the world, China and the EU share extensive common interests. China is happy to see a prosperous and stable EU, will not change its policy of supporting the European integration process and will continue to deepen China-EU relations as well as practical cooperation. It is hoped that the French side can play a greater role in promoting the healthy development of China-EU relations.

Francois Hollande congratulated on the complete success of the G20 Hangzhou Summit in every aspect, especially consensus reached in boosting world economic growth, invigorating global trade, tackling climate change and other fields. France attaches great importance to its relations with China, and is willing to promote communication and coordination and continuously step up practical cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, food, nuclear power, tourism, environment as well as international and regional hotspot issues.
