On 5 September 2013, Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao gave a briefing to the press at the International Media Center of the G20 St. Petersburg Summit. He answered questions on the economic prospects of BRICS countries, the US Federal Reserve's exit of the QE policy, the BIRCS Development Bank and other issues. About 100 journalists, including those from the Reuters, the Associated Press, the RIA Novosti, the Wall Street Journal, Xinhua News Agency and China Daily, attended the event.

Zhu Guangyao said he hoped that G20 members would strengthen macro-economic policy coordination and major economies be mindful of the spillover effects of their macro-economic policies. Countries should first handle their own affairs well, deepen the adjustment of their economic structure and increase the internal driving force for economic growth. In recent years, the BRICS countries have maintained a strong momentum of economic growth, increased their strength and economic scale as a whole and deepened macro-economic policy coordination. We are full of confidence on the economic prospects of the BRICS countries.
