On Sep. 4, 2013, President Xi Jinping arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia to attend the eighth G20 Summit scheduled on Sep. 5 and 6.

Around 18:50 local time, Xi Jinping's special plane arrived at St. Petersburg Pulkovo-1 Airport. Xi Jinping was greeted by the senior officials from the government of the Russian Federation and from the city of St. Petersburg.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other accompanying officials arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Li Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, and others as well greeted at the airport.

The theme of the upcoming Summit is growth and jobs. It will focus on the topics such as the global economic and financial situations, investment, trade, development and reform of the international momentary and financial system. Xi Jinping will deliver an important speech. During the Summit, Xi Jinping will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Barack Obama and other foreign state leaders as well as executives of international organizations, and attend the unofficial meeting of leaders of the BRICS.

Xi Jinping left for St. Petersburg after concluding the state visit to Turkmenistan. Upon his departure from Mary, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan led the 10 Deputy Prime Ministers of the government to see him off at the airport. Thousands of people, dressed in colorful national costumes, were waving flower bouquets as well as banners, dancing and cheering, to express congratulations for the full success of Xi Jinping's visit.

After attending the Summit, Xi Jinping will as well pay state visits to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan and attend the thirteenth Meeting of the Council of Heads of the Member States of the SCO.
