Xi Jinping Visits Senate of Uzbek Supreme Assembly

On Sept. 9, 2013, President Xi Jinping visited the Senate of the Uzbek Supreme Assembly, accompanied by Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

When the two heads of state arrived, they were greeted by Ilgizar Sabirov, Chairman of the Senate of the Uzbek Supreme Assembly.

Xi Jinping walked into the hall of the senate, and shook hands with personnel in charge of all the special committees of the senate.

Islam Karimov introduced to Xi Jinping the senate building. He said that the building integrates traditional and modern elements, and is grand and bright. When designing it, we referred to the concept and style of the Great Hall of the People. We want to learn from China's good experiences.

Xi Jinping said that the Silk Road has connected China and Uzbekistan since long time ago, and many cultural elements of both countries have blended together. We have to be modest, learn from each other, respect each other, and appreciate each other.

At the plenary session hall of the senate, Islam Karimov and Ilgizar Sabirov introduced to Xi Jinping the system and operations of the Uzbek Supreme Assembly. Xi Jinping said that each country should choose the social system and development path, in line with its own national conditions. Legislative institution communications are an important part of the China-Uzbekistan strategic partnership. We hope that both sides strengthen exchanges, and learn from each other in governing state affairs and dealing with politics, to make new contributions to promoting the development of bilateral relations.

After the visit, the two heads of state shook hands in farewell. Islam Karimov said to Xi Jinping that you are a great leader of China, and I understand the burdens on your shoulders. I sincerely wish that everything goes well with you, and that you lead the Chinese people to achieve prosperity. Uzbekistan and China stand together. Xi Jinping said let's support each other and let the two countries enjoy mutual development.

On the same day, Xi Jinping also presented a flower basket to the Monument of Independence and Humanism in Uzbekistan, accompanied by Islam Karimov.
