Cheng Guoping Briefed the Media on President Xi Jinping's Visit to Four Central Asian Countries and Activities during the SCO Summit

On the afternoon of 13 September 2013, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping gave a briefing to the media on President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, his activities during the SCO Bishkek Summit and the outcome and consensus reached at the Summit at the Press Center of the Chinese delegation immediately after the conclusion of the SCO Bishkek Summit.

Cheng Guoping said that this is President Xi Jinping’s first visit to the four Central Asian countries and participation in the SCO Bishkek Summit and it is a journey of peace, friendship and cooperation, during which President Xi Jinping expounded on China’s foreign policy towards Central Asian countries in a comprehensive and in-depth manner. This visit upgraded the overall relationship between China and Central Asian Countries.

Cheng Guoping said that during the SCO Bishkek Summit, participating leaders had a thorough review of the cooperation experience of the SCO in various fields, made an in-depth analysis of the situation facing the SCO, exchanged views on major international and regional issues and chartered the course for the future work of the SCO. Several documents were issued or signed during the Summit, including the Bishkek Declaration of Heads of SCO Member States, the Plan of Action for the Implementation of Provisions of the Treaty of Long-term Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Between SCO Member States, the Press Communiqué of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States and the Intergovernmental Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation. Participants congratulated Kyrgyzstan on the success of the Summit and were happy with the outcomes of the Summit.
