Xi Jinping Meets with Parliament Speaker Asylbek Zheenbekov of Kyrgyzstan

On Sept. 11, 2013, President Xi Jinping met in Bishkek with Parliament Speaker Asylbek Zheenbekov of Kyrgyzstan.

Xi Jinping expressed that China and Kyrgyzstan have established strategic partnership and bilateral relations are facing more opportunities and broader prospects. China has full confidence in the future of bilateral relations. China is willing to work closely with Kyrgyzstan and to offer sincere mutual assistance for each other to build along the ancient Silk Road the "Silk Road Economic Belt" under the new conditions, so as to promote common development and prosperity.

Xi Jinping spoke positively of the important role of the legislative bodies of the two countries in the development of China-Kyrgyzstan relations. Hope both sides will keep close friendly exchanges, share experience on state governance and democracy and legal system building-up so as to contribute more to deepening political mutual trust, promoting practical cooperation and consolidating good-neighbourly friendship.

Zheenbekov expressed that President Xi Jinping's visit serves as a link between the past and future and will push forward bilateral relations to a new high. The Kyrgyz side is willing, taking the opportunity of the establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries this time, to quicken the steps of bilateral cooperation, to join hands building the "Silk Road Economic Belt", in order to achieve friendship for generations. The Kyrgyz Parliament hopes to strengthen friendly exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries to deepen friendship and to promote cooperation.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the meeting.
