2,600 Additional Military Medics Seconded to Wuhan

Approved by Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping, an additional 2,600 military personnel are seconded to Wuhan to join the fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak. They will be treating confirmed patients infected with the novel coronavirus at the Wuhan Taikang Tongji Hospital and the Optical Valley Campus of the Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital of Hubei Province. The operation model is similar to that at the Huoshenshan Hospital.

The Wuhan Taikang Tongji Hospital and the Optical Valley Campus of the Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital of Hubei Province plan to allocate 860 and 700 beds respectively for confirmed patients. Both hospitals are equipped with clinical wards and supporting departments including infection control, clinical laboratory, special service clinic, radiodiagnosis, drug and equipment, disinfection supply, information and medical engineering.

The armed forces have so far sent over 4,000 medical workers in three batches to Wuhan to support the fight against the outbreak.
