2020/03/16

At the press briefing on Beijing's COVID-19 containment measures on 15 March, Chen Bei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Beijing Municipal Government, noted that given the fast spread of the outbreak overseas, importation has become a major risk for Beijing, and that most of the newly confirmed cases in Beijing have been imported.

In response, the Beijing inter-agency task force will enforce stronger and more rigorous control measures. Effective immediately, all international flights and flights from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions arriving at the Beijing Capital International Airport will land in the designated zone in T3-D.

Quarantine measures in designated places will be fully applied to most effectively contain the virus at the source and cut off its transmission routes. Starting from 0:00, 16 March, all travelers from overseas will be transferred to designated places for 14-day quarantine and observation. Those with special conditions verified by strict assessment may undergo home quarantine. Expenses incurred during the isolation period will be borne by the quarantined travelers.

Those who cause the spread of the virus due to provision of misinformation or cover-up of their health conditions will be held accountable pursuant to laws and regulations, and their acts will be recorded in the personal credit system.
