Imported Cases Reported in 19 Provinces

2020/03/23

At a press briefing held by the State Council inter-agency task force on 22 March, NHC spokesperson Mi Feng said that one new locally transmitted case was confirmed on China's mainland on 21 March. The local infection was linked to imported cases in Guangdong Province. Most regions in China are now at low risk. As of 21 March, COVID-19 importation had been reported in 19 provinces among which nine reported their first imported infections in the past seven days. These cases can be traced back to 22 countries of origin, up from 12 a week ago. With the outbreak spreading to over 180 countries and regions around the world, it is imperative to forestall the importation of COVID-19 and ensure that there are no missing links in the quarantine, transfer, treatment, isolation and other measures as required.
