Beijing Leading Group on COVID-19 Control Convenes 47th Meeting and 14th Meeting of the Inter-agency Mechanism for Strict Entry Management

2020/03/24

On the afternoon of 23 March, the Beijing Leading Group on Epidemic Control of COVID-19 held its 47th meeting and the 14th meeting of the inter-agency mechanism for strict entry management.

The meeting noted that as the epidemic is spreading rapidly overseas, Beijing is facing a serious situation in its epidemic prevention and control. It is an arduous task to stem and forestall imported cases from abroad.

The meeting called for formulating more strict measures on containment and strengthening concentrated medical observation and nucleic acid testing for all inbound travelers. Greater efforts should be made to better manage those arriving in Beijing from other points of entry in China. Information should be circulated among all ports of entry, so that surveillance and alerts can be put in place in advance. Departments in charge of all zones and sites must coordinate with each other to ensure zero missing links and full implementation of concentrated medical observations as required.

The meeting called for tightening inbound flights management and closer coordination with airports accommodating international arrivals diverted from Beijing. Screening and health inspection should be conducted upon arrival. In line with prevention and control requirements, all cabin crews and flight attendants operating international flights arriving in Beijing will be managed in isolation from others and included in Beijing's epidemic prevention and control system.
