Beijing Leading Group on COVID-19 Control Convenes 48th Meeting and 15th Meeting of the Inter-agency Mechanism for Strict Entry Management

2020/03/26

On the afternoon of 25 March, the Beijing Leading Group on Epidemic Control of COVID-19 held its 48th meeting and the 15th meeting of the inter-agency mechanism for strict entry management to discuss the city's ongoing epidemic response.

Noting the serious challenges Beijing faces in forestalling import of cases, the meeting called for more rigorous prevention and control measures on arrivals from overseas. All international arrivals in Beijing and all international arrivals in Beijing who enter China through other points of entry within the past 14 days are subject to medical observation in designated places and nucleic acid tests. Points of entry should enhance information sharing and enforce stringent screening for all passengers to plug loopholes and minimize risks.

It is imperative to prevent local transmission of imported cases. Thorough epidemiological investigation must be conducted for the first local infection caused by imported cases. Comprehensive checks must be carried out on those under home observation to make sure that they stay indoors and observe quarantine restrictions. Efforts will be made to ensure sound services and management regarding foreign nationals in Beijing, step up epidemic response at residential communities with large numbers of foreign nationals, and stop inappropriate behaviors in time.
