NHC: 14 Straight Days of Zero New Local Infection in 28 Provinces;
China Has Sent 15 Teams of 149 Medical Experts to 16 Countries

2020/05/03

Only one confirmed case was newly reported nationwide on 1 May, the lowest since 16 January, said Mi Feng, NHC spokesperson and Deputy Director-General for Communications, at a press briefing on COVID-19 response in Jiangsu held by the State Council inter-agency task force on 2 May. Mi added that 28 provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have reported zero new local infection for 14 days in a row. By 2 May, all provinces in China have exited from top-level COVID-19 response posture.

Due to the overcrowding and violation of mask-wearing protocols at some scenic sites on the first day of the Labor Day holiday, tourists are once again advised to make advance bookings, stagger travel schedules and space out visits to avoid concentration of people at public places. Self-protection remains essential such as wearing masks properly, keeping hands clean, and monitoring body temperatures.

According to WHO updates, 213 countries and territories have been affected by COVID-19, with the number of daily confirmed cases exceeding 60,000 for a month running. To assist the international response effort, China has sent 15 teams of 149 medical and epidemic control experts to 16 countries, said Mi.
