NHC: All Counties in China Now Classified as Low-risk Regions

2020/05/08

At a press briefing by the State Council inter-agency task force on 7 May, Mi Feng, NHC spokesperson and Deputy Director-General for Communications, said that the number of newly reported local asymptomatic cases dropped to below 10 on 6 May. And there had been no new local confirmed case for 4 consecutive days, no new local suspected case for 10 consecutive days and no new fatal case for 22 days running. Mi announced that all county-level areas across the country would be classified as low-risk regions starting from 7 May. However, given the considerable uncertainties facing China's COVID-19 containment work, continued efforts must be made to treat the infected and care for the recovered. Routine control measures must remain in place to prevent a domestic resurgence of the virus.
