NHC Update on Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 19 May, the following were newly reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 5 confirmed cases (including 1 imported case in Inner Mongolia and 4 local cases in Jilin);

b) no fatal case;

c) 3 suspected cases (including 2 imported cases and 1 local case, all in Shanghai);

d) 3 cured and discharged cases;

e) 328 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 1 fewer severe case.

2. As of 24:00, 19 May, among all the imported cases, 46 confirmed cases (including 2 severe cases) were still under treatment and 6 suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 1,708 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,662 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal case reported.

3. As of 24:00, 19 May, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 87 confirmed cases (including 9 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,244 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 82,965 confirmed cases;

e) 7 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 740,614 close contacts traced (including 4,893 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 19 May, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 16 new cases (1 imported);

b) no case developed into confirmed case;

c) 37 cases released from medical observation (4 imported); and

d) 368 cases still under medical observation (26 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 19 May, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 1,540 confirmed cases:

a) 1,055 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,025 discharged cases and 4 fatal cases);

b) 45 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 440 in the Taiwan region (including 401 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
